<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To store and manage input image data and online document data of a database in association with each other. <P>SOLUTION: A server system stores a plurality of document data each containing metadata on content of each document data, and relation information representing relation between the plurality of document data. When scanned image data or image data received on a fax are input (S1), related document data related to the input image data are identified from among the plurality of stored document data, on the basis of the metadata contained in each document data (S6 to 8).
