[Problem] To obtain a structure which can effectively prevent the axial displacement of a ball bearing (16) for supporting, in a rotatable manner, the intermediate section of a pinion shaft (6) and which can be configured compact and at low cost. [Solution] An engagement groove (28b) is formed along the entire periphery of the opening-side portion of the inner peripheral surface of an auxiliary housing section (12c) which constitutes a casing (10c), and the outer diameter-side portion of a substantially C-shaped retaining ring (29b) is engaged with the engagement groove (28b). As a result of this configuration, an axial side surface of the inner diameter-side portion of the retaining ring (29b) is pressed against an axial side surface of an outer ring (18) which constitutes the ball bearing (16) fitted in and supported by the inner peripheral surface of the auxiliary housing section (12c). Also, a clip (35) having an outer diameter-side arm (43) and an inner diameter-side arm (44) is mounted at the opening edge of the auxiliary housing section (12c), and a diameter reduction preventing section (36) constituted by the front end of the inner diameter-side arm (44) of the clip (35) is inserted into the non-continuous section (34) of the retaining ring (29b). |
