The present invention relates to a composition for a sulfate-free shampoo which does not contain a sulfate-type anionic surfactant. The present invention provides the composition for the sulfate-free shampoo comprising a sultaine-type amphoteric surfactant having a SO3 - at an anion-side end. Desirably, the present invention further comprises a betaine-type amphoteric surfactant having a COO- on the anion-side end. The present invention prevents hair damage or color fading from dyed hair by not containing sulfates, and has superior foaming ability by containing the sultaine-type amphoteric surfactant.
