<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate a musical piece in which a character string such as lyrics properly corresponds to each unit section of the musical piece. <P>SOLUTION: A musical piece generation device 100A generates a musical piece in which each of a plurality of unit sections is applied with a melody. A storage device 24 stores a plurality of pieces of melody data DM designating different melodies. An information acquisition part 32 acquires a designated character string DL composed of a plurality of characters. A musical piece generation part 34 distributes a plurality of character groups obtained by dividing the designated character string DL to each unit section, and calculates a melody evaluation value in accordance with the number of characters of each character group corresponding to each of the plurality of unit sections and the number of notes of the melody designated by the melody data DM for each melody data DM.
