This device for controlling an automatic transmission is provided with: a position detection means that detects a shift position; a vehicle speed detection means that detects vehicle speed; a rotational frequency detection means that detects the input rotational frequency of the automatic transmission; and a control means that, when the shift position has been switched from a parking position or a neutral position to a driving position, after a physical quantity indicating the state of the automatic transmission has become at least a predetermined value, performs on the basis of vehicle speed a determination with respect to switching from a control when stopped for controlling the hydraulic pressure supplied to a tightening element on the basis of the input rotational frequency of the automatic transmission to a control when travelling for controlling the hydraulic pressure supplied to the tightening element without using the input rotational frequency of the automatic transmission. |
