<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seat slide device for a vehicle which employs a simple lock structure to prevent backlash in a front and back direction of the vehicle in a locked state and abnormal noise during a lock release operation. <P>SOLUTION: A lock member 6 of a seat slide locking device includes a pair of lock plates 7 and 8, and the pair of lock plates 7 and 8 has a plurality of locking teeth on lower ends thereof. A through-hole 5a is formed on an upper rail, and an upper part of the lock member 6 is inserted and supported in the through-hole 5a. Lock plate holding holes 10f are formed in a lock holder provided on the inside of the upper rail, and the lock member 6 is assembled movably in the forth and back direction in such a way that the locking teeth formed in the pair of lock plates 7 and 8 are inserted and supported into the lock plate holding holes 10f.
