CHARACTERIZING AN INDOOR STRUCTURE BASED ON DETECTED MOVEMENTS AND/OR POSITION LOCATIONS OF A MOBILE DEVICE

Various methods, apparatuses and articles of manufacture are provided which may be implemented in various devices for use in characterizing a signaling environment in an area of location uncertainty within an indoor structure. In an example, a mobile device may, in response to a determination that it is within an area of location uncertainty, gather a plurality of measurements generated during a period of time. Such an example mobile device may generate a position fix, e.g., at or subsequent to an end of the period of time, based, at least in part, on one or more signals received at the mobile device within an area of location certainty. Such an example mobile device may, in response to a determination that it is to report a travel history for at least a portion of the area of location uncertainty, generate a travel log based, at least in part, on the plurality of measurements and the position fix, and transmit at least a portion of the travel log to one or more external devices. An example external device may obtain at least a portion of a travel log from a mobile device, and determine an estimated trajectory of the mobile device within at least a portion of the area of location uncertainty within an indoor structure leading to the position fix.
