<p>A security system (12) and method for automatically immobilising a vehicle (10); the security system (12) comprising: at least one smart key (22), a control unit (20) and an immobiliser (26). Wherein the key (22) enables a user to access the vehicle (10) and or control over the vehicle (10). The control unit (20) is configured to determine the presence of the key (22) within the vehicle (10) when the engine is running. Whereupon interaction by a user with the vehicle (10) and/or compliance with a one or more predetermined criteria, in the absence of the key (22), the control unit (20) activates the immobiliser (26) thereby automatically immobilising the vehicle (10) and preventing the vehicle (10) from being driven.</p> |
