Provided is a transparent electrode provided with both sufficient conductivity and light transmittance, and provided is an electronic device having improved performance by means of using the transparent electrode. The transparent electrode (1) is provided with: a nitrogen-containing layer (1a) configured using a compound containing nitrogen atoms; and an electrode layer (1b) that is provided adjacent to the nitrogen-containing layer (1a) and that uses silver or an alloy having silver as the primary component.
