<p>[Problem] To enable signal transmission at a high data rate while maintaining backward compatibility. [Solution] A source device (110) and a sink device (120) are connected by a HDMI cable (200). The source device (110) is compatible with both current HDMI and new HDMI. There are three differential signal channels for transmitting digital signals such as video data in the current HDMI, but, for example, there are six channels in the new HDMI. When the cable (200) is compatible with the new HDMI and the sink device (120) is compatible with the new HDMI, a control unit (113) of the source device (110) implements control such that a data transmission unit (112) operates in the operation mode for the new HDMI. However, when it is at least determined that the sink device (120) is compatible with only the current HDMI or that the cable (200) is compatible with only the current HDMI, the control unit (113) implements control such that the data transmission unit (112) operates in the operation mode for the current HDMI.</p> |
