PURPOSE: A TFT(Thin Film Transistor) array board for an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) device and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to extend the opening area by connecting a pixel electrode to an active layer through a barrier layer. CONSTITUTION: A barrier layer(109a) is formed on an active layer(107a). The barrier layer is divided into a first and a second area based on the channel area of the active layer. A source electrode(111b) is formed on the first area. A passivation layer(117) exposes the second area of the barrier layer. A pixel electrode(123a) is formed on the passivation layer in order to electrically connect to the exposed second area.
