1,034,113. Disc brakes. S.A. ANDRE CITROEN. March 26, 1963 [May 28, 1962], No. 11872/63. Headings F2E and F2F. In a disc brake for vehicles comprising brake lining-carrying jaws 1, 2 pivotally connected together at 5, the end of the jaw 1 remote from the pivot 5 is pivoted on a support fixed to the chassis so that the jaw 1 is movable normal to the brake disc 4 whilst being held along a predetermined chord of a circle concentric to the disc, and the end of the jaw 2 remote from the pivot 5 is bored at 7 to permit the passage through and the anchoring of an actuating rod 8. Two discs 4 are arranged on the same axle and both brakes are actuated by a single floating cylinder 9. As shown, the inner end 10 of one actuating rod has pivoted thereon a lever having a short arm engaging a notch in the cylinder and a long arm 11 connected, as by a convenventional cable, to an emergency handbrake or pedal; alternatively the emergency control may be arranged to act directly on the two actuating rods one of which is coupled to the brake cylinder. The linings 3 are of trapezoidal section having the greatest thickness on the jaw side. |
