The method involves providing a molding tool having a cross-sectional shape of hollow profile element blank at input side and variable formation section at an output side. The profile element blank is positioned at the input side. The relative movement of the molding tool and the profile element blank is carried out in axial direction while simultaneously carrying out a relative rotation between the molding tool and profile element blank about an axial axis of molding tool so as to mold profile element blank into profile having hollow section (22) with variable formation (23).
