PURPOSE: A component arrangement device including a mechanical frame and at least two component pickup units and a method for driving the component arrangement device are provided to prevent reaction force applied by one component pickup unit from influencing on accuracy of position selection of another component pickup unit. CONSTITUTION: A component pickup unit(4) is able to move for at least one sub frame(3) supported by a mechanical frame(2). An assistant frame(22) includes a section(23) located below a supporting part(5). The supporting part is supported by a supporting leg(7) of the mechanical frame. The assistant frame additionally includes an upright part(24) and a girder(25). The upright part is extended in parallel with an upright part(6), and the girder is arranged among end parts of the upright part. A driving unit(26) includes a first part connected to an end(27) of the sub frame.
