<p>Converting energy stored in phytoplankton into mechanical, electrical and/or thermal energy, comprises producing carbon dioxide from phytoplankton, and using produced carbon dioxide for culturing phytoplankton. An independent claim is also included for a combined device for converting energy stored in phytoplankton into mechanical, electrical and/or thermal energy, comprising (i) a device for producing biomass, where phytoplankton is subjected with carbon dioxide, (ii) a device for gasifying biomass obtained in step (a), (iii) a device for combusting the gas obtained in step (b), and for converting the thermal energy obtained during combustion, into mechanical and/or electrical energy, (iv) a device for oxidizing exhaust gases obtained in step (c), (v) a device for separating carbon dioxide obtained in step (d), and (vi) a device for transferring carbon dioxide obtained in step (e) into the apparatus (i).</p> |
