A spinning room preparation machine having a drafting mechanism, comprises at least one component element 21 which is in contacting engagement with a movable counterpart element 4 and is subjected to wear or attrition in the contacting region. The wearing component element 21 is in the form of an axially rotatable part, which following wear of part of its surface can be rotated to position a predetermined non-worn contacting region of the component element opposite the counterpart element. The component element may comprise a roller cleaner lip or wiper 21 with forks 23a, 23b mounted at each end for locating relative to piston rods 19a, 19b of a draw frame. The forks may be mounted relative to the ends of the lip by cooperating hexagonal plug and socket formations which allow the forks and lip to be remounted relative to each other at six different rotational positions. The worn lip and fork assembly may be removed, the lip repositioned relative to the forks and then remounted so that an unworn part of the lip contacts the associated roller. Alternatively the component element may comprise a wearing pin (251, 252, Figure 5a) of a roller bearing of a roll of a drafting mechanism.
