FREQUENCY OFFSET ESTIMATION UNIT AND METHOD BASED ON PILOT SUBSET

PURPOSE: Frequency offset estimator and a method thereof based on a pilot subset are provided to reduce degradation of integer frequency offset estimation performance according to a channel frequency selective characteristic due to cyclic delay diversity although a frequency selective characteristic of a channel transmission function becomes greater in a pilot subcarrier location. CONSTITUTION: A frequency offset estimator(80) includes a subset selection unit(820) and a frequency offset estimation unit(830). The subset selection unit divides the detected total pilot set from the transmitted cyclic delay diversity OFDM signal into a pilot subset including a pilot subcarrier. The frequency offset estimation unit estimates a frequency offset using the pilot subset. The subset selection unit comprises a pilot subcarrier, where index difference between pilot subcarriers corresponds to an integer multiple of a period of the frequency channel response, as a single pilot subset.
