A lighting apparatus that can prevent the excessive adjustment of brightness even in the case that the light is incident from the outside is provided. An adapter 63 is hooked to a ceiling socket 62 located on the ceiling. Any one of first ring material 6 and second ring material 60 fixed to a chassis 1 is interlocked to the adapter 63, to install the lighting apparatus on the ceiling. A circuit board 5 is connected to a sensor board 53 on which an illuminance sensor 52 is mounted. The illuminance sensor 52 outputs electric signals corresponding to the detected illuminance. A control unit adjusts the brightness of light emitted from a LED module, on the basis of the illuminance detected by the illuminance sensor 52. The illuminance sensor 52 is fixed to the chassis 1 in such a manner that it is inclined from a rotation axis about which the chassis 1 is rotated.
