The invention relates to a bendable thermoplastic reinforcement in particular for a profiled seal or profiled molding in a motor vehicle, such a profiled element comprising the reinforcement, and a method for producing thermoplastic reinforcements, including those of the invention. The reinforcement (3) comprises at least one longitudinal section having a substantially U-shaped or L-shaped cross-section and includes a top (12) and at least one leg (10) extending from said top. Along its length, the reinforcement comprises a non-continuous series of transverse portions (13) that are joined to each other by means of longitudinal connecting elements. According to the invention, said connecting elements have a generally longitudinal rib structure (14, 15) that is integral with the transverse portions in the leg/s and is designed to form a neutral fiber for the profiled element. The method of the invention involves extruding at least one thermoplastic material through a die formed between an extruder head and a member which receives the material discharged from the head and which has a hollow cavity designed to form the reinforcement in such a way that the extruded material gradually covers said member. |
