PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for handling coil rolls in an automated teller machine are provided to implement a coin handling process on the sidelines of a financial transaction process of customer in an automated teller machine, for concurrently processing the financial transaction related to coins and coin wrapping, thereby rapidly processing the financial transaction. CONSTITUTION: A method for handling coil rolls in an automated teller machine comprises a temporal storing step(420) of separating and storing coins by each denomination in a temporal holder by recognizing and counting the coins; a transfer step(440) of transferring the coins to a coin wrapping part if the number of coins of a denomination are more than a predetermined number; a coin wrapping step(450) of wrapping the transferred coins into rolls; a wrapped coin storing step(460) of storing the wrapped rolls of coin in a rolled coin storage part; and a piece storing step(480) of moving the coins left in the temporal holder to a piece coin container if the number of the left coins of a denomination is less than a predetermined number.
