The invention comprises compounds of the general formula <FORM:0995367/C2/1> wherein R1 is alkyl (1-6C), R2 is hydrogen or methyl, R3 and R4 are methyl, ethyl or propyl, or join in a piperidino, pyrrolidino or morpholino group, and Y is hydrogen, iodine or bromine; and their pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts; and their preparation by reacting an alkali metal salt of a corresponding 3 - (p - hydroxy - benzoyl) - benzofuran with a compound X-CHR2-CH2-NR3R4 where X is a halogen atom in a solvent immiscible with water. Pharmaceutical compositions comprises compounds and salts of the invention with diluents and excipients. Forms for oral (tablets) and parenteral (solution) administration are mentioned. The compounds act on the vascular system. |
