The box (6) has an air inlet opening lying above in an installation position and connected with a closed water separation chamber (27) over a tubular supply pipe (33). The supply pipe comprises a preseparation discharge unit (10) i.e. valve, after the air inlet opening. Water is discharged through the preseparation discharge unit outside of the closed water separation chamber. The supply pipe comprises a barrier element (23) at the preseparation discharge unit. The water in the supply pipe is conducted into the preseparation discharge unit, where the box is made of plastic. An independent claim is also included for a motor car.
