A marine wave energy converter comprises an elongate supporting spine 1 and a plurality of blades or flaps 2 rotatably mounted to the spine. The spine may comprise a plurality of conduits, and the flaps may be mounted by piano hinges 16. The flaps may actuate hydraulic cylinders 7 which may pump hydraulic fluid or seawater along the spine. The spine, flaps and mounting members 5, 6, may be made from plastics e.g. polyethylene. The spine may be resiliently flexible to limit stresses from wave loading, and to allow it to flex in conformity with ocean surface waves. |
