941,670. Operating mechanism for fanlights. W. WEBER. Sept. 26, 1960 [Sept. 24, 1959], No. 33009/60. Addition to 931,713. Heading E2M. The opening and closing mechanism claimed in the parent Specification for a fanlight which can be tilted about its lower edge or pivoted about a side edge for cleaning purposes, is improved by the inclusion of means whereby the pushout arm which is connected between the wing of the window and the operating mechanism may be automatically disengaged from the mechanism in the closed but unlocked position of the window. A pin 88 on the end of pushout arm 83 engages between two pins 89, 90 on a member 91 which is attached by angular lugs 92 to a set of operating cables 93, 94 which run in recesses in the fixed frame to an operating handle 97. The path of travel of the pins is covered by a U-shaped guide casing 102 formed with a slot 103. In the closed but unlocked position of the widow pin 88 is positioned adjacent slot 103. In this position the window may be pivoted about its right side edge by release of the pin of hinge 4 and during this movement pin 81 moves out of engagement with pins 89, 90 of the operating mechanism. Buttons 104 attached to the operating cables engage locking clasps 105 in the closed and locked position of the mechanism. |
