A decorative finish is formed on a surface by applying thereto a first component including a vinyl resin in a first solvent, applying to the surface simultaneously or subsequently, but before the first component is dry, a second component including an epoxy resin in a second solvent which is miscible with the first solvent, drying the components to form a coating in a pattern containing discrete areas of the epoxy resin and of the vinyl resin, and fixing the covering to form a hard, durable finish. The first component may also include a pigment and a stabilizer, and the second component a pigment. |
