A grease-proof composition suitable for floor tiles consists essentially of 1.5 to 4 parts by weight of a chlorinated paraffin containing 45 to 60% wt. chlorine and having a melting point of 15 to 55 DEG C. and 1 part of a vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymer which gives specified results when subjected to a physical test described in detail in the Specification. In general copolymers satisfying the test are those containing 85 to 90% wt. vinyl chloride and 15 to 10% vinyl acetate. The composition can be used as binder in amounts of 18.5 to 25% in tile compositions containing 81.5 to 75% of filler. Specified fillers and other ingredients such as stabilizers are: calcium carbonate, ground limestone, asbestos fibre, epoxy resins and other epoxy stabilizers, polymerized rosin, lead carbonate, barium or cadmium laurate and cadmium ricinoleate. |
