A lamp, particularly for use as a vehicle headlamp, comprises a parabolic reflector 1 with an incandescent lamp 2 arranged at the focus, a screen 5 of contiguous fluorescent lamps emitting white light positioned at the mouth of the reflector and a second screen 4 formed of fluorescent lamps of different colours arranged behind the first screen. The lamps of the second screen may be contiguous and vertically arranged or may be tubes bent at right angles and arranged around the bulb as shown in Fig. 4. Alternatively they may be in the form of concentric rings. The lamp 2 may be provided with a second filament screened on the underside so as to produce a dipped beam. |
