<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a processing method for intercepting and diffusing rectilinear light of light emitted from an end surface of the optical fiber, in which processing adjustment is allowed up to a curvature radius of a hemispherical shape and emitted light is hardly varied. <P>SOLUTION: A titanium oxide and a toothpaste (on the market) are applied to an optical fiber front end, and the optical fiber front end is thermally fused by inter-electrode discharge (arc discharge), and a hemispherical lens is made by surface tension. Current values of electrodes and a discharge time are varied to adjust a curvature radius of a sphere and a degree of diffusion of emitted light. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
