<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting unit that can suppress increase of the number of light sources and expansion of an external dimension, and a liquid crystal display device equipped with the lighting unit. <P>SOLUTION: The lighting unit includes a first light guide plate including a first incident face and a first emission face, a second light guide plate which is arranged to be overlapped on the first light guide plate and includes a second incident face positioned adjacent to the first incident face and a second emission face positioned on an opposite side to the first light guide plate, a light source arranged on a side facing the first incident face and the second incident face, and a light control element which is arranged between the first incident face and the second incident face and the light source and controls a light progressing direction of the light from the light source toward the first incident face and the second incident face, and controls a ratio of the light incident into the first light guide plate and the second light guide plate. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
