<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the occupied area of a dummy mat. <P>SOLUTION: A semiconductor device comprises: a bit line 32; a plurality of memory cells 31 that are connected to the bit line; a dummy bit line 52; a plurality of dummy cell transistors 51, in each of which either source or drain is connected to the dummy bit line; and a sense amplifier 33 that is connected between the bit line and the dummy bit line.
