<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charging system which allows for significant reduction in the installation space of the system by eliminating a charge controller for controlling a plurality of charging stands, while ensuring the operation of other charging stand when each individual charging stand fails or is maintained. <P>SOLUTION: The charging system comprises a plurality of charging stands 6 for charging a vehicle 1 parked in a compartment 3, and communication units 19 each provided in the charging stand 6 and mutually communicating the status information. One charging stand 6 out of the charging stands 6 is set as a master charging stand 6 and other charging stands 6 are set as slave charging stands 6.
