DIRECT CURRENT COMPOSITE PAPER SOLID CABLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a direct current composite paper solid cable optimal to construct a long distance and high capacity power supply line.

SOLUTION: A composite paper solid cable 10 is provided with an insulating layer 3 configured by winding composite paper (semi-synthetic insulation paper) obtained by laminating insulation paper 3b and resin 3a around the outer circumference of a conductor 1 and impregnating insulation oil. When the rate of change of the thickness of the resin immediately after impregnating the insulation oil into the composite paper is defined as a swelling index, composite paper in which a variation in the swelling index is managed within a predetermined range (for example, within A±1% when A represents a reference value of the swelling index) is used for the insulation layer 3 over the entire length of the composite paper solid cable 10. The composite paper solid cable can effectively be used as a constructional element of a long distance and high capacity submarine power line because the variation in the swelling index is small over in a longitudinal direction and a weak point of mechanical property hardly exists in a local manner.
