PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antibacterial agent against bacteria of the genus Clostridium.

SOLUTION: Compounds represented by 3-acyl-4-hydroxy-6-methylpyrones, 3-acyltetronic acids and/or 3-acyl-4-hydroxycoumarins are used for an antibacterial agent against bacteria of the genus Clostridium. These compounds are particularly selective for Clostridium difficile and/or Clostridium perfringens among bacteria of the genus clostridium.
