<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chamfering method capable of shortening a chamfering rough-grinding time of round surfaces of a quadrangular prism-shaped silicon ingot. <P>SOLUTION: The chamfering method includes the steps of: placing a distance in vertical direction between paired back-and-forth movable grinding wheel spindles 11o, 11o each bearing a cup wheel type grinding wheel 11g; rocking-rotating a workpiece w around a C-axis center of the workpiece w back and forth by 26 degrees, the workpiece w being supported between a headstock 7a and a tailstock 7b of a clamp mechanism 7 mounted onto a work table; respectively abutting front to back surfaces of the workpiece against cutting edges of the cup wheel type grinding wheels 11g, 11g to start infeed grinding of the workpiece w; and passing the rocking workpiece between the cup wheel type grinding wheels 11g, 11g to perform traverse-grinding, thereby chamfering the round surfaces of the workpiece. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
