<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an atomic oscillator that implements an increased peak value of an EIT signal under a magnetic quantum number m<SB POS="POST">F</SB>=0. <P>SOLUTION: An atomic oscillator 100 includes: a semiconductor laser (light source) 1 for generating first resonance light and second resonance light for causing alkali metal atoms to exhibit an electromagnetically induced transparency phenomenon; a λ/4 wavelength plate 2 for circularly polarizing resonance light 1a generated from the semiconductor laser 1; an atom cell 3 containing alkali metal atoms; light detection means 5 for detecting an intensity of resonance light 3a emitted from the atom cell 3; DC magnetic field generation means 4 for applying a DC magnetic field of a predetermined strength to the alkali metal atoms; AC magnetic field generation means 8 for applying an AC magnetic field of a predetermined frequency depending on the strength of the DC magnetic field to the alkali metal atoms; center wavelength control means 9 for controlling a center wavelength of resonance light output from the light detection means 5; and control means 10 for controlling a frequency difference between the first resonance light and the second resonance light to cause the alkali metal atoms to exhibit the EIT phenomenon. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
