<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a housing which has a pattern giving a ceramic feeling and is excellent in chemical stability and wear resistance; and a method of manufacturing the housing. <P>SOLUTION: A housing includes a substrate, a base ceramic layer formed to cover the top surface of the substrate, and a transparent ceramic layer formed to cover the top surface of the base ceramic layer. Between the base ceramic layer and the transparent ceramic layer, a pattern layer is further formed.
