<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light guide plate that can reduce luminance unevenness generated around a light-incident part with light incident, a plane light source device, a transmission type image display device, a design method of light distribution pattern for a light guide plate, and a method for manufacturing of the light guide plate. <P>SOLUTION: The light guide plate containing a light guide plate base material propagating light, includes a plurality of light reflecting dots 12 formed at least on one side of the light guide plate base material. In a plurality of virtual regions A made by equally and virtually dividing a dot-formed surface which is a surface with light reflecting dots formed into a plurality of parts, a plurality of virtual gratings g are arrayed two-dimensionally in a regular manner, the light reflecting dots are formed on predetermined virtual gratings among the plurality of them.
