<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lead acid battery with high capacity, without degrading its life characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: Electrolyte having specific gravity between 1.30 and 1.36 (reduced to 20°C) is used, in a fully charged state, for a lead acid battery whose capacity is mainly controlled by the amount of positive electrode active material. The mass ratio of the sulfuric acid in the electrolyte to the positive electrode active material is to be between 0.48 and 0.58. Preferably, pore volume of the positive electrode active material is between 0.11 and 0.15 ml/g in a fully charged state. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
