<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an audio output amplifier, such as a headphone amplifier, which implements an improved channel separation. <P>SOLUTION: A headphone amplifier 100 includes an L channel amplification circuit 100L and an R channel amplification circuit 100R for driving speakers SPL and SPR, respectively. The L channel amplification circuit 100L and the R channel amplification circuit 100R each have a current control section 130 that has a current detection resistance R<SB POS="POST">5</SB>interposed in a path of current supplied to the loading speaker, and that generates across the current detection resistance R<SB POS="POST">5</SB>a voltage proportional to a voltage value of an audio input signal fed to the amplification circuit.
