<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a strong, beam type desk with excellent appearance. <P>SOLUTION: This desk includes a top plate 1, right and left legs 2, and a long sideways strip-like rear beam 6. The rear beam 6 is fixed on rear part side faces of the right and left legs 2 through connection blocks 61. The connection block 61 is fixed to a rear part leg strut 3 by bolts 62, while being inserted through the rear part leg strut from inside (the opposite side to the leg 3). The rear beam 6 is a sheet metal working article comprising a base plate 20 and a reinforcing plate 21, and has a hollow part. Each of joint plates 66 is welded to an end part of the rear beam 6, and is fixed to the connection block 61 by bolts 67 each having a slant attitude in a plan view.
