<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper money identification processor having an inlet sensor function and an identification sensor function, and having an automatic adjustment function for adjusting the emitted light quantity of a light emitting element in response to light quantity received by a light receiving element, for solving such a problem of inconvenience that erroneous determination or identification is made by either the inlet sensor function or the identification sensor function even when an optical sensor receives the rays of light from the outside of the device. <P>SOLUTION: The received light quantity of a light receiving element is measured when light is not emitted by a light emitting element in a stand-by state of paper money, and when the received light quantity is larger than a first threshold set as a value between a first received light quantity and a bill presence detection level, the automatic adjustment function is inhibited from decreasing the emitted light quantity of the light emitting element. When light is not emitted by the light emitting element, and the received light quantity of the light receiving element is larger than a second threshold set as a value between the first received light quantity and the first threshold, the automatic adjustment function is inhibited. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
