SURFACE COATED CUTTING TOOL

摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface coated cutting tool exhibiting excellent pitching resistance and wear resistance at an initial stage of starting cutting.

SOLUTION: The surface coated cutting tool is formed with a complex nitride layer of Al and Cr by vapor deposition on a surface of a tool base made of WC-based cemented carbide. A hard coating layer has a columnar crystalline structure, and a growing axis direction of the columnar crystalline structure of a blade edge is inclined with respect to a vertical direction to the surface of the tool base. An inclination angle of the growing axis direction of the columnar crystalline structure in a flank face of the blade edge is 18±5° from the direction perpendicular to the tool base toward an intersection point of an extension of the flank face and an extension of a cutting face. An inclination angle of the growing axis direction of the columnar crystalline structure in the cutting face of the blade edge is 30±5° from the direction perpendicular to the tool base toward the intersection point of the extension of the flank face and the extension of the cutting face.
