<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotor for an electric motor enabling easy positioning of magnets while forming a flux barrier and a brushless motor using the rotor for an electric motor. <P>SOLUTION: A rotor for an electric motor having a rotor core 41 with a plurality of slits 44 formed thereon and magnets 13 provided in the slits 44 includes end portion plate members 50 each fixed to an axial end of the rotor core 41 and covering the axial end face of the rotor core 41. On a main surface of the end portion plate member 50 on which the rotor core 41 is arranged, a pair of circumferential regulation pieces 56 and 56 nipping the magnets 13 from both sides in the circumferential direction and regulating the movement of the magnets 13 in the slits 44 are installed.
