<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous ink composition for a ballpoint pen capable of reducing abrasion of a ball-receiving seat by rotation of a ball through imparting high lubrication effects, capable of ensuring a good ink-jetting property over long-distance writing even with an extrafine ballpoint pen, and capable of maintaining excellent writing feelings equivalent to those in an early stage of use over a long period; and a ballpoint pen having the same built-in. <P>SOLUTION: The aqueous ink composition for a ballpoint pen includes at least water and graphitized carbon black.
