<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which, when reading an original, is capable of accurate detection of adhering dust. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus comprises: automatic document feeding means 112 which feeds the original and slides the original on a reading glass surface; reading means 111a which reads a line image along a main scanning direction orthogonal to the conveying direction of the original through the glass surface and reads an image along a sub scanning direction parallel to the conveying direction of the original in accordance with the conveyance of the original; and detection means 11 which detects a foreign matter adhering to the glass surface on the basis of the density characteristic of the image data of the original acquired by the image reading. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
