PURPOSE: A catalyst composition is provided to include palladium(Pd) and lanthanum triflate(Ln(OTf)3), thereby maintaining high selectivity and high conversion ratio and make hydrogenation reduction reaction of phenol in a mild condition at room temperature and atmospheric pressure. CONSTITUTION: A catalyst composition comprises palladium(Pd) and lanthanum triflate(Ln(OTf)3). The molar ratio of the palladium and the lanthanum tri-plate is 1:1-1:10. The amount of the palladium and the lanthanum triflate are independently 1-20 mol%. The catalyst composition is used for synthesizing cyclohexanone by reducing phenol. A manufacturing method of the cyclohexanone comprises a step of forming a cyclohexanone by the reaction of phenol and hydrogen, under the presence of a catalyst composition and solvent which includes pallidum and lanthanum triflate. The conversion ratio of the phenol is 90% or greater and the selectivity of the cyclohexanone is 90% or greater.
