[Also in Division A4] In the process of attaching the perimeter of a flexible sheet, such as a printed paper sheet 1, to the perimeter of a rigid support 2, such as a pasteboard or cardboard support, narrow strips 3 of thin material which is light and malleable are inserted between the edges of the support; these edges are folded over the strips 3 and the sheet edges and strips are bent downward to bear against the support 2 as shown in Fig. 9. The embodiment shown in Fig. 9 is that of a gramophone-record cover in which a second flexible sheet 10 is secured on three sides only, leaving the top 11 open to receive the record. In Fig. 1, the sheet 1 bears a pictorial design, which is stretched over the support 2 when the edge strips 3 are applied. The strips 3 may be of aluminium or other thin metallic material.</p> |
