PURPOSE: A system and a method for controlling a quenching car gate are provided to maintain the closed state of the quenching car gate when the temperature of hot cokes loaded in a quenching car is more than the optimal temperature of the hot cokes. CONSTITUTION: A system for controlling a quenching car gate(5) comprises a temperature sensor(110), a temperature control part(120), and a driving part(130). The temperature sensor measures the temperature of hot cokes. The temperature control part generates gate control signal when the current temperature of the hot cokes is same as or lower than the optimal temperature of the hot cokes. The driving part opens the quenching car gate according to the gate control signal receiving from the temperature control part.
