[Also in Division B5] Thermoplastic sheet material is embossed on one side only by passing a cold sheet of the material between a rotating heated embossing roller and a rotating backing roller of a rigid or substantially rigid material. Both rollers are kinemaratically coupled to prevent any relative slipping of the sheet and the embossing roller is heated only in its embossing areas. Examples of suitable sheet materials, which may be molecularly orientated, are polyvinylchloride and polyvinylidenechloride.</p> |
