<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To propose a system for supporting a series of tasks from the generation of a meter-reading schedule to the issue of a bill by using data to be transmitted/received between the system and a portable telephone set. <P>SOLUTION: A portable telephone set stores the list of meter-reading object customers downloaded from a server. In meter-reading, the portable telephone set identifies the customers by reading two-dimensional codes on a meter, and transmits meter-reading data via the downloaded input pictures to the server. The server calculates charges on the basis of the meter-reading data, and generates and transmits bill data to the portable telephone set.
